Surah Ash Shura Ayat 181 Tafseer

Para 19 - وَ قَالَ الَّذِیْنَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

26.181-184

اَوْفُوا الْكَیْلَ وَ لَا تَكُوْنُوْا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِیْنَۚ (181) وَزِنُوْا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِیْمِۚ (182) وَ لَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ اَشْیَآءَهُمْ وَ لَا تَعْثَوْا فِی الْاَرْضِ مُفْسِدِیْنَۚ (183) وَ اتَّقُوا الَّذِیْ خَلَقَكُمْ وَ الْجِبِلَّةَ الْاَوَّلِیْنَﭤ(184)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Imaan

'Measure in full, and do not be of those who short-change.' 'And weigh with a properly calibrated scale.' 'And do not give the people their goods by short-changing it, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.' 'And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.'

Commentary

Not giving the full measure, returning less than what was entrusted, robbery, looting and spreading corruption on the earth by destroying crops were the ways of these people. Prophet Shuʿayb عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام prohibited them from these acts and warned them of Divine retribution. From this, we learn that a Prophet عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام does not only come to teach worship, rather, imparting the correct teachings regarding transactions, etiquette and politics is included in his rank of prophethood.
